How does it Work?

Aqualipo RF™ uses radio frequency to specifically target fat cells. The treatment increases your body's core temperature to a point of dissolving fat cells, without causing damage to other internal organs. It is the first technology to melt the unhealthy and dangerous fat linked to heart disease and diabetes. CT scans, body circumference and weight measurements have confirmed that Aqualipo RF™ results in the loss of up to 10 inches and 14 lbs of weight in just 6 weeks for most patients. It causes the disruption of fat cell membranes, thus causing the fatty content to leak out into the interstial tissue. The fat is then absorbed by the lymphatic system and eventually eliminated naturally via the urine and feces. The natural elimination is one of the features distinguishing Aqualipo RF™ from the other invasive and minimally invasive techniques, such as Smart Lipo™, Vaser and liposuction. Eliminating the fat, since it is not vacuumed or sucked out, requires the patients' participation. The patient has to do some mild form of exercise such as walking 1 hour three times a week to keep the lymphatic and circulatory system moving and drink lots of water to aid in elimination.
Furthermore, invasive techniques remove or kill the fat cells, making it difficult to gain fat back in the treated area. However, if one “falls off the wagon” with healthy lifestyle habits, the weight will be gained and will do so in other areas of the body. What is Aqualipo RF™?

Conventional liposuction is the invasive cosmetic plastic surgical procedure to remove pockets of fat that has not responded to diet and exercise. Also, invasive liposuction was not intended as a means for weight loss or obesity treatment. What does the treatment procedure feel like?

The treatment procedure is like thermal therapeutic massage, which is very comfortable to you. No anesthetics are needed. 
During the treatment procedure many people feel little or no sensation at all. Some people feel a tingling or warm sensation under the applicator or electrodes. This feeling usually decreases or disappears after a few hours as the person becomes used to the sensation. This sensation can vary depending upon the site being treated.

How many treatments do I need to get good result?

Depending on the individual’s amount of fat the number of sessions vary. The physician will evaluate before and during the treatment. Based on clinical studies, the total amount of fat removed per 5 treatments is about 2000 CC. The physician will decide if additional sessions are necessary. One treatment takes about 45-50 minutes and a minimum of72 hours are needed between treatments.

Are there any risks involved with Aqualipo RF™?

Every treatment procedure has risks and Aqualipo RF™ is no different, but according to our clinical study, Non-invasive Aqualipo RF™ is the safest and most effective method of removing localized fat areas among all Lipoplasty technologies.

How long will Aqualipo RF™ recovery take?

Aqualipo RF™ does not need any recovery period or healing time. You can go back to your normal, daily activities during and after treatment.

Will the fat return after Aqualipo RF™?

As with any fat removal treatment, there is no guarantee that fat will permanently disappear.  You must do your part with healthy eating habits and regular exercise. If a conventional liposuction patient gains weight, the entire body will distribute the fat because the treated area no longer has the same capacity to store additional fat because a large portion of the fat cells were removed. When an Aqualipo RF™ patient gains weigh the fat comes back to the same area that fat was removed because the fat cells were not destroyed. That means it is much easier to maintain the fat in case you need an additional Aqualipo RF™ treatment.

Can I combine Aqualipo surgical and Aqualipo RF?

Yes. Dr. Bassin has found that patients who combine the two technologies achieve a better result than just one technology alone. Most patients with large abdomens will typically be counseled to combine the two technologies to rid the body of both the subcutaneous and visceral fat.
